We are pleased to confirm that Sir Ian Bauckham CBE, Chief Regulator at Ofqual, will speak at the Apprenticeships and Training Conference on Day Two. Sir Ian is one of the most influential figures in education and qualifications regulation, and his contribution will be a significant moment in this year’s programme.
Sir Ian became Chief Regulator in 2023 following a long career in education leadership. He previously served as a senior school leader, a trust CEO and national leader of education, and he has undertaken a wide range of advisory roles for the Department for Education. His work has shaped key areas of policy and practice, including teacher recruitment, behaviour, curriculum, and modern foreign languages.
At Ofqual, Sir Ian is responsible for overseeing the standards and integrity of qualifications across England. His leadership comes at a time of change and opportunity for the skills sector, with evolving approaches to assessment, new qualification frameworks and ongoing reform across technical and vocational education. His session at ATC will provide valuable insight into the direction of regulation and what it means for providers, employers, and learners.
Delegates will have the chance to hear directly from Sir Ian as he reflects on current regulatory priorities, future challenges, and how the system can continue to support high quality apprenticeships and training.
We look forward to welcoming him to the ATC and encourage all attendees to join this important keynote.
